Just Simple Words
Just Simple Words
A single step,
I pass you by,
A silent storm
inside your eye.
This is the way
the story ends,
No longer lovers,
barely friends.
My heart aches
just to turn around,
A heavy word
without a sound.
This silence is
a heavy stone,
A wall we built
all on our own.
I see the coldness
in your gaze,
A frozen, dark,
and empty maze.
I can't believe
you feel so numb,
Look at the strangers
we've become.
This isn't fate,
it's only pride,
That built the wall
we hide behind.
We had the choice,
we had the voice,
But silence was
our only choice.
So just pretend,
just tell a lie,
Just say,
"I never loved you," try!
A simple word
before I go?
The silence simply
answers, "No."
